Social media and technology corporations are eroding out privacy day by day. They collect information on us, even if we think we closed an app. The data they collect on us can be used to manipulate us, whether politically or to buy a product.

I was inspired by Edward Snowden, MrEnter’s documentary Technocracy, and the Netflix documentary The Social Dilemma. The aesthetic for this painting was the Echo Visor from Metroid Prime 2. The people in this photo are my mom and cousin. I tried to sneak the reference photo July 4, 2020 and get it in perspective our Google Home. I painted on a large sheet of rough watercolor paper and tore it up into roughly 3x3 squares to create a pixel-like effect.
